Role Overview
The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer is responsible for maintaining the health, performance, and security of the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves real-time monitoring of networks, responding to incidents and alerts, and providing both proactive and reactive support to ensure uninterrupted network operations.
Job Responsibilities
- To monitor network performance, availability and security through the use of network management tools and systems
- Respond promptly to network alerts and incidents and troubleshoot and resolve network related issues in a timely manner and within SLA as per defined processes and policies
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external clients, assisting with network connectivity, configurations and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including network engineers and system administrators to diagnose and resolve complex network problems
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks including system upgrades, patch installations and hardware replacement
- Ensure compliance with network security policies, implement security measures and participate in vulnerability assessments and risk mitigation efforts
- Generate network performance reports, analyze trends and make recommendations for network improvements and optimizations on both access and core network together with customer links
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations and standard operating procedures. (SOPs)
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in network operations and support
- Proactively participate in training and technical knowledge sharing workshops and cascade to sales team
- Provide accurate and timely feedback and reports to Director and NOC Manager (daily/weekly/monthly)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in network operations, technical support, or related roles
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools
- Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (Cisco, MikroTik, Fortinet, etc.)
- Knowledge of IT security principles and ability to assist in compliance and risk mitigation tasks
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and after-hours support, as required by NOC operations
