Job Summary
On behalf of our esteemed client from the telecom industry, we are looking for a Procurement Executive to manage end-to-end procurement activities for telecom infrastructure, ensuring timely availability of quality materials and services to support network operations, expansion, and customer installations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning & Coordination
- Plan and forecast procurement requirements for telecom infrastructure, network expansion, and customer installations
- Coordinate with Network Engineering, NOC, and technical teams to ensure uninterrupted service delivery
Sourcing & Procurement
- Source and procure telecom equipment including routers, switches, fiber optic cables, OLTs, ONTs, antennas, radio equipment, racks, and power systems
- Review and interpret technical specifications, BOQs, and network designs to ensure accurate procurement
- Identify, evaluate, and manage local and international suppliers
Vendor Management & Negotiation
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, warranties, SLAs, and payment terms
- Maintain strong relationships with OEMs, distributors, and service providers
Importation & Logistics
- Manage importation processes including supplier coordination, shipping, and documentation
- Liaise with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and regulatory authorities for timely clearance
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, duties, and exemptions
Cost Control & Market Analysis
- Conduct market analysis and price benchmarking for telecom equipment and services
- Ensure procurement aligns with approved CAPEX and OPEX budgets
- Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising network quality
Inventory & Stock Management
- Work closely with Warehouse, NOC, and Field Teams to maintain optimal stock levels
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts for network maintenance and fault resolution
- Prevent service disruptions due to stock shortages
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, warranties, and import documentation
- Support internal and external audits
Risk Management & Continuity
- Identify supply chain risks such as delays, shortages, or price fluctuations
- Develop alternative sourcing strategies for critical telecom components
- Support business continuity through proactive procurement planning
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide Purchasing Officers/Assistants where applicable
- Ensure proper coordination of procurement activities across departments
Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Employer in line with telecom operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering (Telecommunications/Electrical), or a related field
- Professional certification such as CPSP (Tanzania), CIPS, or equivalent is highly preferred
- Minimum 5–6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management
- Proven experience in handling international procurement and importation processes
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and negotiations at a supervisory level
- Prior experience in a supervisory role is required
