Position Summary
On behalf of
our esteemed client from the shipping line industry, we are looking for an
Assistant Finance Manager to support the full finance function within a dynamic
shipping and logistics environment. The role is responsible for ensuring
accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with
local statutory and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will work closely
with operational and management teams to support financial planning, cost
control, and informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial
Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare
monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts in accordance with
applicable accounting standards
- Post and
review journals, accruals, provisions, and adjustments
- Maintain the
general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Prepare
financial statements and supporting schedules for management review
- Ensure
proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions
Budgeting,
Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in
the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Track
financial performance against budget and investigate variances
- Conduct
financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Support cost
analysis related to shipping operations, freight charges, port costs, and
logistics expenses
- Provide
recommendations to improve cost efficiency and financial performance
Accounts
Payable, Receivable & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee
accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate
processing
- Monitor cash
flow, working capital, and bank balances
- Prepare and
review bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasts
- Ensure
timely invoicing and effective credit control
Compliance,
Tax & Audit
- Ensure
compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with
preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory filings
- Coordinate
and support internal and external audits
- Ensure
adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and procedures
- Identify and
mitigate financial and compliance risks
Operational
Support & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with
operations, procurement, and management teams to support financial decisions
- Liaise with
auditors, tax consultants, banks, and other external stakeholders
- Support
finance system improvements and process enhancements
- Provide
guidance and support to junior finance staff where required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's
degree in accounting or finance with CPA, CA or ACCA qualifications. MBA in
Finance is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of
relevant finance or accounting experience. Prior experience within shipping,
logistics, maritime, or a related operational industry is a plus
- Experience
with audits, compliance, and financial controls
